Treble Hooks and Stingers

Treble hooks are the standard hook configuration for wobblers, crankbaits, swimbaits and other hard lures. The right model influences hook-up speed, fish retention and the overall action of the lure. Finer wire allows extremely fast hook penetration, while stronger trebles provide greater strength when targeting large predators.

Stingers (assist hooks) are mainly used with larger soft plastics or swimbaits. They help convert short or cautious strikes into solid hook-ups and significantly increase landing ratios when targeting predators such as zander or pike.

Treble hooks for wobblers and hard lures

Tip: When replacing treble hooks on wobblers, it is best to keep a similar size and weight so the lure’s action remains unchanged. Finer trebles improve hook-up rates when fish bite cautiously, while stronger models are better suited for large predators or saltwater fishing. Tip: When fishing with larger soft plastic lures, using a stinger can significantly increase the number of successful hook-ups – especially when targeting zander or pike, which often attack only the rear part of the lure.
