Shads and swimbaits are among the most reliable soft plastic lures for predator fishing. They imitate a naturally swimming baitfish – the primary prey for most predators – and work year-round, whether retrieved slowly or actively. The question isn't whether they will work, but which type to choose based on depth, fish activity, and conditions.

In this category, you will find classic paddle tail shads for all-around use, as well as swimbaits and weedless system soft plastics designed for snags, structure, and demanding conditions.

Basic Categorization of Soft Plastic Lures

Shads (paddle tail) – all-around use
