Large saltwater jigs are designed for targeting powerful and large saltwater predators using vertical jigging, slow jigging, and deeper shore fishing techniques. Compared to smaller jigs, they offer higher weight, better control at greater depths, and the ability to work effectively even in strong currents. Their purpose is not aggressive chasing, but rather a realistic imitation of prey within the water column, often with emphasis on the fall, flash, and irregular movement.

A typical feature of this category is that the jigs are supplied without assist hooks and rings, allowing anglers to build the terminal setup exactly according to the target species, depth, and fishing style. Large saltwater jigs are most commonly used for pelagic predators, deep-water species, and powerful bottom-dwelling fish, where clarity of action and correctly chosen rigging are crucial.
