Jerkbaits

Jerkbaits are among the most effective hard lures for active and technical predator fishing. They are designed to produce sharp side darts, sudden stops and pauses when twitched with the rod, perfectly imitating an injured or fleeing baitfish. This irregular, unpredictable action very often triggers reaction strikes, even from cautious and highly pressured fish.

A defining feature of jerkbaits is the high level of control over the lure’s movement – the angler determines the rhythm, intensity and length of pauses. Most models are neutrally balanced (suspending), allowing them to hover in the water column during stops, which significantly increases the time spent in the strike zone. Jerkbaits are extremely effective for perch, pike, zander, bass and other predatory species.

Main jerkbait categories by running depth

Shallow to mid-depth jerkbaits (approx. 0.8–1.8 m)
