EGI Jigs – Lures for Cuttlefish Fishing

EGI jigs are specialized lures designed for targeted fishing of cuttlefish and squid, developed with a strong focus on precise action control, fast access to the desired depth, and proper presentation close to the bottom. Unlike classic fishing lures, they do not rely on predatory attack behavior, but instead stimulate the territorial and hunting instincts of cephalopods, which react to movement, silhouette, and correct retrieve tempo. EGI jigs are most commonly used with darting techniques followed by a pause, during which the lure remains in the strike zone.

Depending on their construction, EGI jigs can work with a slow gliding action or, conversely, a fast, sharp darting motion suitable for greater depths and stronger currents. Modern models are designed to quickly stabilize after each movement, avoid line twist, and remain fully readable even during technical fishing. This allows anglers to systematically work the bottom, edges, and deeper areas where cuttlefish often hold, while maintaining full control over the lure’s presentation at all times.
